3 Ways You Can Improve Your Restaurant’s Community Involvement
While smart marketing, special deals and (of course) fine cuisine can increase your customer base, community outreach and involvement is also an important tool restaurants can use to bring in more customers. While large companies have more capital and resources for community involvement, small companies can both give back to their communities and broaden their customer base by conducting community outreach. Below are three ideas for community involvement that even a small restaurant can engage in:
- Keep a collection bucket at your restaurant counter: Find a local charity that you wish to support and set up a donation bucket next to your cash register. This is probably the easiest way for your restaurant to help your local community.
- Create special deals and events to assist charities: For example, you can advertise a “Charity Night” at your restaurant where patrons who dine during certain hours will have a portion of their bill donated to a local charity. This is a great way to help a local charity while also bringing in more customers.
- Sponsor a Local Organization: Reach out to local charities and organizations to see if they have any upcoming events. From soup kitchens to jog-a-thons to food drives, your business can provide financial backing and volunteer support. Tegner-Miller Insurance Brokers has found sponsoring a local fundraising event extremely rewarding. We have sponsored the McKinley School’s Annual Jog-a-thon, Santa Monica’s Junior Chamber of Commerce’s Peter Rabbit Day, the Chamber’s annual ‘PAL’oween event and even had an employee contest to help raise money for Upward Bound House – a local homeless shelter. We are excited to work with more community organizations in the future.
